About Me
ABOUT ME...
I'm all about working to get that awesome storyline at the cost of my characters' happiness and comfort. I am 21+, first started RPing ~10 years ago, and generally expect others to be 18+ as well. Being 18+ is absolutely non-negotiable for any romance storyline (with smut or no) -- period.
I prefer posting to scenes via GDocs (or Zoho), comment threading, or email. I tend to use GTalk instead of AIM, go for third-person storybook every time, and prefer threading games over forums. I generally write 2-3 paragraph long tags, but I don't expect my writing partner to do the same. As long as thought is put into the responses, and care is taken to keep in character (no changing personalities to magically resolve conflict!), I'm happy :)
As much as I love writing scenes, RPing is not my first priority. I have school, a dog, and will always opt for spending time with friends than sitting before the computer. It means I'm not online everyday. I understand that can be frustrating for some players, but -- on the flipside -- you won't have to worry about me being upset if there are days you can't be online either :).
**Currently, school & life are incredibly hectic and RPings things will have to be put off until May. BUT still feel free to comment in the dropbox until then :D.**
...RP STYLE...
I'm big on character development, and I don't think that happens through complacent characters. I also think conflict isn't half as fun if the character is completely blameless: I'm a huge fan of landing my characters in trouble that's partly (or almost wholly) their own doing, and watching them struggle to figure out how to get out of it. I just think it's more interesting if a characters' problems partly arise from their own failings than purely because the universe (or some person) is just out to get them.
I generally try to put my plotting focus away from romantic storylines. I think there is just as much non-romantic drama to be found between friends, family, work, school, and that drama is all the more fun because there are so many more directions to go than "either these characters hook up or they don't". However, because most community plotline requests I see do involve romance, here's what I go for concerning that:
ON ROMANCE & ROMANCE-THINGS:
When I do pick up a romantic storyline it is usually just a sublevel of a bigger plotline than just "Jack and Jill sharing dessert and making happy-times", and I always go for the dysfunctional. Examples:
Jack & Jill care about each other but aren't working out in a way headed toward splitsville, it's an emotionally unhealthy codependency, it's an unrequited tension that remains frustratingly unrequited, it's a couple dealing with the awkwardness after a fairly unsalvagable breakup, etc. etc...
The main point here is that I don't do fluff, and reading or writing fluff often makes me want to bash my head into a wall. Of course: Not Liking Fluff =\= Not Liking Humor. I adore humor, and some of my favorite scenes involve awesome plotting with hilarity and snark thrown in (dysfunctionally functional relationships anyone? YES PLEASE).

...INTERESTED IN...
I go for original games and storylines that have a dark sort of edge to them. Particular loves are horror and crime, and I will never be put off by a touch of the supernatural, fantasy, or sci-fi. I'm currently not interested in playing fandoms, but I have found my RP tastes align with my book, TV, and movie tastes:
Books: Neil Gaiman, Raymond Chandler, Dashiell Hammett, His Dark Materials, Philip K. Dick, Harry Potter, Water for Elephants, 1984, Ray Bradbury
TV: Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Criminal Minds, Law&Order, Battlestar Galactica, Caprica, Stargate SG-1 & Atlantis, True Blood, Supernatural, Dollhouse;
Movies: Minority Report, Spiderman I & II, The Dark Knight, The Prestige, The Departed, The Maltese Falcon, Dark City, Equilibrium, Moulin Rouge, Book of Eli
